Tips For Winterizing Your Vehicle - Tip #5

Tip 5: KEEP YOUR FUEL TANK FULL

Tip 5: KEEP YOUR FUEL TANK FULL
Although it's never a good idea to run your fuel tank low, the damage on your car with a near-empty tank during winter months is worse. Cold and shifting temperatures can cause condensation to form on the walls of a gas tank in the red, leading to water dripping down and into the gas. Since water is heavier than gas, it will eventually sink to the bottom. If water migrates into the fuel lines, it may freeze up, blocking any flow of gas to the engine. Repairs can be costly. Keeping your tank full is helpful for your car and can potentially save you money down the road.
